Watched Kaminomizosirusekai

It's a decent anime, but didn't live up to the manga's legendary status.
2nd season is in production.
What I wanna ask is...
WHY DIDN'T THEY MAKE IT A 24EP SEASON WHEN THEY GOT THE SOURCE MATERIALS TO DO SO!!!???
